A CRM for automotive industry use can mean two different things. Dealership management systems run the store: inventory, deal structuring, finance, service and parts. Rodok does none of that. What it does is track the sales pipeline for the buyers that deserve a relationship, which for most dealers means fleet and commercial accounts, businesses that buy several vehicles and buy again. This page is for a CRM for car dealers and dealerships that sell to companies as well as to people who walk in.

Where a general CRM fits at a dealership

Most dealership sales are consumer sales, and they run through the dealer's own management system and its lead tools. Those systems know the stock, the trade-in and the financing options. Rodok is not a replacement, and it does not connect to them, so a consumer walk-in is best kept where it already lives.

The part that does fit is business selling. A contractor adds three trucks, a rental company renews its fleet, a property services firm buys vans. The buyer is a business owner, a fleet manager or an operations lead, and the cycle is a series of conversations over weeks. It benefits from a record of the people, the vehicles they run and the date they might replace them.

A pipeline for fleet and commercial deals:

StageWhat it meansNext step to log
InquiryA company asked or you reached outBook a visit or a call
Fleet needs reviewYou know what they run and what they needPrepare a quote
QuotePricing and options are with the buyerFollow up in 2 to 3 days
Order placedThey committedConfirm build or delivery dates
DeliveredThe vehicles are with the customerSet a check-in and the next replacement date

The last stage matters. The best next sale is to a fleet customer who was happy with the last one. See what a sales pipeline is.

What to look for in a CRM

  • Companies with several contacts. The owner, the office manager who orders and the driver who complains are different people at one company.
  • A note of what they drive. The make, the count and the age of their vehicles tell you when to call.
  • Dated tasks for replacement. "Their vans are four years old in June" is a reason to call in April.
  • Email on the record. Quotes go out by email. If the thread attaches to the deal, the next salesperson sees it.

Signals worth watching

Public events that often come before a business adds or replaces vehicles. Each tracker is a sentence you type into Rodok Pro, which reads LinkedIn posts, job changes, hiring and company news.

  • A business hires drivers or technicians. Tracker: "companies hiring drivers, delivery drivers or field technicians in (your region)". More people on the road often means more vehicles. See hiring surge.
  • A new branch or location. Tracker: "companies announcing a new location or service area in (your region)". See new office or market.
  • A new fleet or operations manager. Tracker: "fleet managers, operations managers and COOs who started a new role in the last 90 days at companies with 20 to 500 employees". New managers review how they buy. See new executive.
  • A big contract win. Tracker: "companies in (your region) announcing a large new customer or contract". See big customer win.
  • A funding round. Tracker: "companies in (your region) announcing a funding round". See funding round.

A first message example

An example, with made-up names:

Subject: Vans for the new Tacoma branch Hi Joe, I saw Bellmont Plumbing is opening a second location in Tacoma. If you are adding service vans, I would like to show you our fleet pricing and a delivery schedule that matches your hiring. A 15-minute call is enough, or I can send options by email.

See the meeting request email template.

Where Rodok fits and where it does not

Rodok Starter ($29 a month for 3 seats) is a sales CRM: companies, people, deals, tasks, notes, files, Gmail and Outlook on every record, a calendar, booking links, reports and team chat. Pro ($79 a month for 3 seats) adds LinkedIn signals, a lead database, sequences and AI.

To be plain: it does not manage inventory, structure finance deals, schedule service, order parts or handle trade-ins. A dealership management system does that, and the consumer lead flow usually belongs there too. Rodok is for the business accounts and the follow-up behind them.

Frequently asked questions

Can Rodok replace my dealership management system?

No. A dealership system runs inventory, deals, finance and service. Rodok tracks the sales pipeline and follow-up for the accounts you choose to put in it, mainly fleet and commercial buyers.

Is a CRM worth it for a dealership selling mostly to consumers?

Your management system's own CRM tools are probably the right place for consumer leads. A separate CRM pays off when you sell to businesses, where the buyer has several vehicles and a repeat need.

How do I track repurchase timing for a fleet?

Record what the customer drives and the age of each vehicle, then add a task for the month you would start talking about replacement. The note and the task are what turns last year's sale into next year's.
