Rodok finds the chief revenue officers and VPs of revenue at the companies you sell to, and flags new revenue leaders and sales hiring pushes. Built around how sellers to revenue leaders actually sell, so you start from your own stages instead of a blank page.

The whole CRM, not just the pipeline. Contacts, companies, tasks, email, automations, chat and the lead finder, in one app.

A CRO email list is a set of chief revenue officers with their companies and contact details. You can buy a fixed file or build a chief revenue officer contact list you refresh as people change seats. Rodok builds the second kind from filters you can rerun. "CRO" can also mean chief risk officer, so the title filter decides.

What a chief revenue officer cares about and how they are reached

A CRO owns the number: new revenue, renewals and expansion, often across sales, customer success and sometimes marketing. They think in pipeline, forecast accuracy, rep ramp time and cost of sales. A message that talks about "efficiency" loses to one that names a pipeline problem.

  • At smaller companies the CRO is close to the work and reads their own inbox. A direct, specific note works.
  • At larger companies sales operations or RevOps vets tools first. Writing to the VP of sales operations as well is reasonable.
  • Their calendar is the quarter. The last weeks of a quarter are for closing, so the first weeks tend to be the better window for a new conversation.

How to find CROs and build the list

MethodWhat you getThe catch
LinkedIn by handCurrent titles and recent postsSlow, and no email
Company websitesLeadership pages with namesOften out of date, rarely an email
Rodok's lead database (Pro)People by title, seniority, department, company size, industry and market, usually with a work emailNot everyone has an email

In Rodok you type the list, for example "chief revenue officers and VPs of revenue at software companies with 100 to 1,000 employees in the US". Rodok turns it into filters: job titles, seniority, department, company size, industry, cities or countries, and verified emails only. Add variants (chief revenue officer, head of revenue, SVP sales, chief commercial officer), because the job has many names, and leave out risk titles. A lead usually comes with a work email, but not every person has one.

How to verify the emails

  1. Filter for verified emails only, then check a sample by hand.
  2. Send a small batch first, watch for bounces and remove every bounced address.
  3. Confirm the person still holds the role. Revenue leaders change companies often, which is why an old file goes stale quickly.

The rules for emailing a CRO

In the United States, CAN-SPAM covers business email. The FTC guide says the law makes no exception for business-to-business email, and requires accurate header information, a non-misleading subject line, a valid postal address and an opt-out honored within 10 business days. Read the FTC compliance guide. CASL (Canada) and GDPR (EU and UK) cover their regions. This is general information, not legal advice.

Signals that a CRO is about to buy

Each tracker is a sentence you type into Rodok Pro, which reads LinkedIn posts, job changes and hiring.

  • A new CRO. Tracker: "chief revenue officers and heads of revenue who started a new role in the last 90 days at software companies with 100 to 1,000 employees". New leaders often review the sales stack early. See new executive hired and new role outreach templates.
  • A sales hiring push. Tracker: "companies hiring account executives, SDRs or a head of sales operations in (region)". See hiring surge.
  • A funding round. Tracker: "companies announcing a funding round in (your market)". Funded companies tend to build the sales team. See funding round.
  • A new market. Tracker: "companies announcing expansion into (region) or a new office". See new office or market.

A first message to a CRO

An example with made-up names:

Subject: Congrats on the CRO role at Northgate Hi Jordan, I saw you joined Northgate as chief revenue officer this month. Congratulations. Teams in the first quarter with a new CRO often rebuild how reps find their next 50 accounts. We help with that part. If it is on your list, I can send a one-page example. If not, no problem.

For more structure, see the new-role email.

Frequently asked questions

Does CRO mean chief revenue officer?

Often, in sales and marketing contexts, but it can also mean chief risk officer, and in life sciences a contract research organization. Set the job title filter explicitly so your list contains only chief revenue officers.

Should I buy a CRO email list or build one?

A bought file starts aging when it is exported, and revenue leaders move often. Building from current titles lets you rerun the search and keep only new people. Rodok builds the list from filters you can rerun.

In the United States, CAN-SPAM applies to business email, so use a truthful sender and subject, include a postal address and honor opt-outs. Canada and the EU and UK have their own rules. This is general information, not legal advice.
