People showing a buying signal, found for security leaders. Example data.

Rodok finds the chief security officers, CISOs and heads of security at the companies you sell to, and flags new security leaders and security hiring. Built around how security leaders actually sell, so you start from your own stages instead of a blank page.

The whole CRM, not just the pipeline. Contacts, companies, tasks, email, automations, chat and the lead finder, in one app.

A CSO email list is a set of chief security officers, with their companies and contact details. Searchers use "CSO" to mean chief security officer most often, and the same list usually needs CISOs and heads of security. You can buy a fixed file or build a CSO contact list you can refresh. Rodok builds the list from filters you can rerun, using a lead database, and shows you when a security leader is new or hiring.

Which CSO do you mean

The abbreviation is shared. In most B2B searches it means chief security officer, the executive in charge of information and sometimes physical security. At many companies the same job is called chief information security officer (CISO), VP of security or head of security. The same letters also stand for chief sales officer at some companies. Decide first, because the titles and messages differ. This page is about security leaders. If you need sales leaders, use the title filter with "chief sales officer" and "head of sales" instead.

What a security chief cares about and how they are reached

A security leader is accountable for risk: incidents, access, audits and vendor risk. They are skeptical of cold outreach, especially from an unknown sender with a link.

What works is a message that is specific about the problem, short on claims and clear about what the product touches. Security teams also run their own vendor reviews, so expect questions about data handling before any call.

They are usually reached by:

  • A direct message to the security head, at mid-size companies where the team is small.
  • A security engineer or manager, who evaluates tools and writes the recommendation.
  • Peer communities and events, where security people trust each other more than vendors.

How to find CSOs and build the list

MethodWhat you getThe catch
LinkedIn by handTitles and movesSlow, no email
Company sitesLeadership namesMany security leaders are not listed
Rodok's lead database (Pro)People by title, seniority, company size, industry and market, usually with a work emailRerun any time

In Rodok, write: "CISOs and chief security officers at financial services companies with 200 to 2,000 employees in the US". Then edit the filters: job titles (chief security officer, CISO, VP of security, head of security, director of information security), seniority, department, company size, industry, cities or countries, and verified emails only. Titles vary widely in security, so include every variant. A person usually comes with a work email, but some do not.

How to verify the emails

  1. Use the verified emails only filter and check a sample against LinkedIn.
  2. Send a small first batch. Delete every address that bounces and do not retry it.
  3. Security teams often filter mail strictly. Keep the first email plain: no attachments, no tracking-heavy links.

The rules for emailing a security leader

CAN-SPAM in the United States applies to business email. The FTC guide says the law makes no exception for business-to-business email: use a truthful sender and subject, a physical address and an opt-out. See the FTC compliance guide. CASL (Canada) and GDPR (EU and UK) cover their regions. This is not legal advice.

Signals that a security leader is about to buy

Rodok Pro trackers watch LinkedIn posts, job changes and hiring. For security:

  • A new security leader. Tracker: "CISOs and chief security officers who started a new role in the last 90 days at companies with 200 to 2,000 employees". New security leaders often reassess tools. See new executive hired.
  • A security hiring push. Tracker: "companies hiring security engineers, a GRC manager or a head of security". A team being built is a team choosing tools. See hiring surge.
  • A tool change. Tracker: "security leaders posting about replacing or consolidating their security tools". See tech stack change.
  • A compliance push. Tracker: "companies hiring a compliance manager or announcing a new certification". Compliance work creates security purchases.

A first message to a security leader

An example, with made-up names:

Subject: Security hiring at Corvane Hi Ahmad, I saw Corvane is hiring a GRC manager and two security engineers. Teams at that stage often track vendor reviews in a spreadsheet. We make vendor risk reviews trackable in one place. I can send a two-page overview of what data it touches. If not relevant, tell me and I will stop.

State what data the product handles in the first message or the second. See the cold email template and new role outreach templates.

Frequently asked questions

Does CSO mean chief security officer or chief sales officer?

Both are used. Most searches for a CSO email list mean the security executive, and this page is written for that role. For a chief sales officer, set the title filter to chief sales officer, head of sales and VP of sales.

How is a CSO different from a CISO?

A CISO usually leads information security. A CSO may also cover physical security and safety. Some companies have only one of the two, and the titles are used loosely, so include both on your list.

Are security leaders reachable by cold email?

Yes, if the message is short, specific and honest about what the product does and touches. Generic claims about "stopping every threat" are ignored. A note tied to something visible, such as a security hire, reads as relevant.
