A CHRO email list is a set of chief human resources officers and chief people officers with their companies and a way to reach them. The title usually exists at larger companies, so it is narrower than an HR list. You can buy a static file or build one you refresh. Rodok builds it from filters you can rerun.
What a CHRO cares about and how they are reached
A CHRO is a member of the leadership team and works closely with the CEO and the board on pay, succession, culture and the cost of the workforce. They are rarely interested in a tool for its own sake. They respond to a clear tie to a decision they are already facing: a reorganization, a merger, a new market.
- They are protected. An executive assistant or a chief of staff manages the calendar. A short note to the CHRO plus a related note to a VP of HR or total rewards often works better than one note alone.
- They want peer proof more than features. A reference from a similar company counts for more than a demo link.
- Their year follows the business. Planning and benefits cycles set when budget is open. Ask about it.
For smaller companies the leader is a head of people or director of HR, covered in the HR directors email list.
How to find CHROs and build the list
| Method | What you get | The catch |
|---|---|---|
| LinkedIn by hand | Current titles and recent posts | Slow, and no email |
| Company websites | Leadership pages with names | Often out of date, rarely an email |
| Rodok's lead database (Pro) | People by title, seniority, company size, industry and market, usually with a work email | Not everyone has an email |
In Rodok you type the list, for example "chief human resources officers and chief people officers at companies with 1,000 to 10,000 employees in the US". Rodok turns it into filters you can edit: job titles, seniority, company size, industry, cities or countries, and verified emails only. Add variants (CHRO, chief people officer, chief talent officer, SVP human resources). A lead usually comes with a work email, but not every person has one.
How to verify the emails
- Filter for verified emails only, then check a sample by hand.
- Send a small batch first, watch for bounces and remove each bounced address.
- Confirm the person is still in the role. Leaders at this level change companies, which is the main reason a bought file goes stale.
The rules for emailing a CHRO
In the United States, CAN-SPAM covers business email. The FTC guide says the law makes no exception for business-to-business email, and asks for accurate header information, a non-misleading subject line, a valid postal address and an opt-out honored within 10 business days. Read the FTC compliance guide. CASL (Canada) and GDPR (EU and UK) cover their regions. This is general information, not legal advice.
Signals that a CHRO is about to buy
Each tracker is a sentence you type into Rodok Pro, which reads LinkedIn posts, job changes and hiring.
- A new CHRO. Tracker: "chief human resources officers and chief people officers who started a new role in the last 90 days at companies with 1,000 to 10,000 employees". See new executive hired and new role outreach templates.
- A restructure. Tracker: "companies announcing layoffs or a reorganization in (market)". See layoffs or restructure.
- A leadership change at the top. Tracker: "companies announcing a new CEO or leadership team change". A new CEO often reshapes the people agenda. See leadership change.
- An expansion. Tracker: "companies announcing a new office or expansion into (region)". See new office or market.
A first message to a CHRO
An example with made-up names:
Subject: Northgate's reorganization Hi Elena, I saw Northgate announced a reorganization into three business units. Teams in that position often have to rebuild role structures and pay bands in a few months. We help with that part. If it is on your plate, I can send a short example from a similar company. If not, no problem.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a CHRO and a chief people officer?
Mostly the name. Both lead HR at the executive level, and many companies prefer "people" in the title. Include both in your filters.
Is it legal to email a CHRO?
In the United States, CAN-SPAM applies to business email, so use a truthful sender and subject, include a postal address and honor opt-outs. Canada and the EU and UK have their own rules. This is general information, not legal advice.
Should I buy a CHRO email list or build one?
A bought file cannot show how old each record is, and executives move. Building from current titles gives you a list you can rerun. Rodok builds it from filters you can rerun.
